“I am a loan officer and I own my own website. The problem is that my site doesn’t produce any loan officer leads for me, and this is hurting my business. Can you help me generate more leads through my website?”
This is one of the most common complaints I hear from mortgage loan officers who read this blog. Clearly, generating website leads is one of the top concerns among loan officers these days. After all, what good is traffic if the website doesn’t convert that traffic into leads for the loan officer who owns it?
In some cases, the answer to this problem is obvious. In other cases, it calls for closer examination. So for starters, you must analyze your website traffic stats. Does your loan officer website even produce any traffic? On a consistent basis? The answer to theses questions will put you into one of two categories regarding loan officer leads …
- Category 1 - Website has no traffic
- Category 2 - Website has traffic but doesn’t produce leads
Category 1 - No Traffic, No Leads
If you examine your website statistics and determine that your site is not getting steady traffic each day, then you obviously need to focus on traffic generation. After all, you cannot produce loan officer leads through a website until the site has some steady traffic to work with.
You can increase the number of visitors to a loan officer website in many ways. You can focus your energy on search engine marketing, press releases, online networking, article marketing, etc. These topics are covered in detail elsewhere on this blog, so let’s move on to the second scenario regarding loan officer leads (or a lack thereof) via your website.
Category 2 - Steady Traffic But Still No Leads
Let’s say you have a steady amount of visitors to your site each day, but you are still not getting any loan officer leads through the site. What now? This scenario is a little harder to evaluate, because there are many possible causes.
If your web stats show a steady stream of traffic day on a regular basis — but the site is not producing any leads for you — then there is something wrong in terms of lead generation, usability, or both. I’ve created this blog / article series to address this particular scenario (traffic but no leads).
